FC LUCERNE – SERVETTE FCCF 0–4 (0–1)

For their season opener, the Garnet side made light work of Lucerne with a 4–0 victory. Serrano, Marinelli, Martínez, and Marchão scored the team’s first four goals of the season!

It was a busy summer for Servette, with many departures but also many arrivals. The squad has been reshaped and strengthened, now under the leadership of Cristian Toro. For his debut, the Spanish coach could not have hoped for a better start.

Although the final score reflects the match overall, it took some time before the breakthrough. Lucerne created the first chance of the game—not dangerous, but an early warning. Servette’s first opportunity came through Karchouni, who, after an excellent pass from Simonsson, was blatantly pulled back by the shirt in the penalty area after just 6 minutes. Moments later, Marinelli struck the crossbar, and Simonsson did the same at the quarter-hour mark. Servette kept pushing, and on a cross from Martínez, Misini thought she had finally opened the scoring, only for Lucerne midfielder Schmid to punch the ball away… The referee let it go once again.

Relief finally came through the legendary Paula Serrano. After a scramble in the box, the Spanish midfielder struck first-time, sending the ball into Schneider’s net. Servette led at the break.

After the restart, the game accelerated. A brilliant ball from Karchouni to Martínez, who set up Marinelli, brought the second Garnet goal—magnificent! Just three minutes later, Martínez, who had assisted, got on the scoresheet herself with Servette’s third. The gap widened. The fourth and final goal came from the left foot of Joana Marchão, who deftly redirected Salomon’s corner to open her tally for the season.

Servette began their season in perfect fashion, not only winning but doing so in style against an opponent that has caused them plenty of problems in past seasons. Next up, the Garnet side will kick off their Swiss Cup campaign next Sunday at 3 p.m. in Basel against SV Sissach, a First League side.
