SERVETTE FCCF – THUN BERNER-OBERLAND: KEEPING UP THE MOMENTUM
After their brilliant qualification for the UWCL play-offs, the Grenat return to the championship this Saturday against Thun at 3pm before traveling to Rome for the first leg of the play-off.
Everyone still has in mind the great week in Poland and the qualification acquired for the UEFA Women’s Champions League play-offs. At the end of an intense week, the Servettiennes have managed to take a very important first step towards the group stages. After dominating Szczecin and AC PAOK, the Grenat will have to discover with AS Roma, the Italian champions. Just that. A real mountain that stands in front of our Servettiennes but an exceptional poster for Swiss and Geneva women’s football whose return match will be played on September 26 at 7pm at the Stade de Genève!
But before thinking about the Eternal City, the Servettiennes will host the Frauenteam Thun Berner-Oberland this Saturday at 3pm at the Trois-Chêne. Currently last in the standings with 4 defeats in 4 matches and only two goals scored for 19 conceded, the Bernese are not favourites in this duel on the 5th day. Nevertheless, each team will have arguments to put forward and additional motivations. The Oberland players will have a lot to do, of course, but will be able to count on a more “fresh” physical condition unlike the Genevans who have had three matches in the space of a week. There will undoubtedly be the desire to glean the first point(s) of the season for the Thounoises. What better other match than the one that pits them against the reigning Swiss Champions? As for the Barcala players, they will have the opportunity to continue on a great series of 5 winning matches and add a new victory to this series in order to gain maximum confidence before the long-awaited trip to the City of Seven Hills.
