SERVETTE FCCF – GRASSHOPPER CLUB ZÜRICH: A SHOCK IN 1/4

The Servettiennes return to the pitch after an international break of several days and welcome Grasshopper to La Fontenette for a quarter-final of the Swiss Cup which promises to be intense!

After resuming the championship, two weeks back, against FC Zürich, the Garnets had a break of almost two weeks to prepare for this duel at the top. On the menu for the past weekend: a friendly match against Dijon FCO lost 1 to 0. Now it’s time for a deadline of the utmost importance for Servette: the cup against Grasshopper.

The Grasshoppers did not experience great difficulty in climbing into 1/4. In the 1st round, the Zurich women got the better of FC Thusis/Cazis with a score of 10-0 before beating FC Luzern Frauen (resident of the 1st league) 5-0 in the 1/16 final. In the previous round, GC defeated Rapperswil 3-1 and are now on the road to the Garnets for a place in the semi-finals. The two teams have already met in the league in September 2022. This match will have all the more a special flavor because it is precisely Grasshopper who had deprived the Garnets of reaching the final last year after an epic penalty shootout. If this event is part of the past, the Garnets will be keen to sweep away this bad memory in order to reach the last four.
