Servette FCCF returns to competition after a two-month break! Currently second in the league, just one point behind FC Basel, the Servette players are determined to start the second half of the season strong and defend their titles. It all begins this Saturday at 7:00 PM with an away match in Thun!
The AXA Women’s Super League has never been as competitive as it is this season! Six teams stand out and all have legitimate ambitions to lift trophies this year. The rise of YB and Basel, along with the emergence of St. Gallen and Grasshoppers, has created exciting matchdays throughout the season. Servette FCCF and Zurich are no longer the only top favorites. Even Aarau and Lucerne, though further down the table, are capable of taking points off the league’s powerhouses. We’re witnessing an exceptional season, where every point is hard-earned.
This Saturday, the Servette players return to Thun’s Stockhorn Arena — the same stadium where they were crowned Swiss champions at the end of May 2024. This time, against a different opponent, Servette FCCF must come back with all three points! Facing the league’s bottom team, Servette will need to deliver a solid performance to stay close to leaders FC Basel 1893, who are just one point ahead. Thun is having a difficult season, with only two points earned in 13 matches (0 wins, 2 draws, and 11 losses). They’ve scored just 8 goals while conceding 48. Jose Barcala’s players will need to stay focused from start to finish and score early to avoid any unwanted surprises.
This match could also be the first official appearance for Landryna Lushimba in a Servette shirt. The new SFCCF player, who joined at the beginning of the year, is now available for selection by the coaching staff.
A 100th appearance for Daïna Bourma?
Daïna Bourma could make her 100th official appearance for Servette FCCF. The French defender, who arrived in Geneva in July 2021, has already lifted the Swiss Cup twice and won one league title.
A product of Olympique Lyonnais’ academy, Bourma went on to play for Montpellier before moving abroad to join Rangers FC in Glasgow. She’s also represented France at U16, U17, and U19 levels. With 99 appearances so far in Servette colors, she has firmly established herself as a cornerstone of the team’s recent success.
