SERVETTE FCCF – FRAUENTEAM THUN BERNER-OBERLAND: TIME FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP AFTER THE BREAK
The Servettiennes will have the opportunity to regain their top spot in the Swiss league (currently second behind Zurich by 1 point) when they host the Bernese, currently second-bottom in the standings. The Genevans play a match in which they are favourites, with the Bernese team doing everything in their power to bring home a win from La Fontenette.
The last time they met Thun was in February 2022, when Serveti won 4-0 in the quarter-finals of the Swiss Cup. The Bernese side were still playing in the NBL last season and made the jump to the AWSL this season. Despite a difficult apprenticeship at the country’s highest level, the Bernese still managed to pick up a few good results. These included a win over Aarau and a 3-3 draw with rivals YB. Thun led until the 93rd minute. So watch out for Thun, a team capable of playing a nasty trick on the Garnet.
Les Grenat next face Schlieren in the Swiss Cup before taking on FCZ in a fortnight’ time in a replay of the last play-off final. Victory against Thun is imperative to put a little more pressure on FC Zürich!
