SERVETTE FCCF – FRAUENTEAM THUN B-O 2-0 (0-0)

At home, the Servettiennes were full of confidence by winning 2-0 against Thun a few days before a crucial match for their European future.

Facing the last in the AWSL rankings, the Servettiennes were never really worried and created a multitude of opportunities throughout the match. Simonsson, then Revelli and Marchão on a free kick sounded the first offensive actions of the Grenat in the first half but came up against a Janine Teuscher in great form. The Bernese goalkeeper even prevented the Servettiennes from celebrating the opening goal a few seconds from the end of the first half with a spectacular save on her own line.

After tea, still under a radiant sun but an icy wind, Jose Barcala’s protégés continued to dictate their law by keeping possession of the leather. The Grenats thought they would celebrate the opening goal again, but Simonsson’s goal was preceded by a handball just before the hour mark. It was finally through Paula Serrano that the Genevans opened the scoring. On a wonderful cross from Manon Revelli, the captain of the day placed an unstoppable header that only hit the crossbar before ending up in the back of the opponent’s net. Despite this opening goal, Leuscher continued to make the Servette attackers live a nightmare until the 86th minute when she had to bow out for the second time in the match, this time against Jelencic after a mix-up in the area.

In full control, the Grenats chained a fourth consecutive victory in the championship. All without conceding a goal again. Now it’s time for the Champions League with a trip to Rome to see the Italian Champions to try to create a historic feat! Join us this Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. for the first battle before the return match at the Stade de Genève on Thursday, September 26 at 7 p.m.!
