SERVIETTE WOMEN’S FOOTBALL CLUB
Servette FCCF – FC St-Gallen 1879: Good start!
The international break is now over, and the Servettiennes are back to start the rest of the season. The results are positive so far, since the Genevans are only one point behind the first place. However, with 6 wins and 3 losses, they occupy 4th place in the table. This first round shows how much women’s football has evolved in recent seasons. Now, 5 to 6 teams can beat any opponent. Basel, YB, St. Gallen, in particular, are putting in solid performances and are clearly displaying their ambitions.
Revenge of the season opener
This match against St. Gallen, at Trois-Chêne, has a whiff of revenge. Indeed, the St. Gallens had played a dirty trick on the Servettiennes at the start of the championship, winning 1-0 on their home turf. Since then, the Swiss-Germans have put in good performances against Zurich and YB. With 19 points, they share first place in the standings with the Bernese.
Solid defensively and opportunistic in attack, St. Gallen is a complete team. This match on Saturday is one of the big events of the season. Will Servette FCCF manage to stay in touch with the top of the standings, or will José Barcala’s players be left behind? Especially since the Servettiennes are on two defeats against Zurich and Basel, with a victory against GC in between. Answer Saturday, from 4 p.m.!
