SERVETTE FCCF – AC PAOK: ALL FOR THE PLAY-OFFS

After beating the tournament host in the semi-finals, the Servettiennes will face the Greek champions, AC PAOK Salonika, this Saturday at 8pm for a place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League play-offs.

José Barcala’s players continued to work hard after their success against Pogon Szczecin. In Poland, they are now in the final of the Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament. At this stage of the competition, the Servettiennes face the Greeks of AC PAOK. The winner of this confrontation will qualify for the WCL play-offs, the last stage before entering this prestigious tournament.

AC PAOK barely defeated the Israelis of Maccabi Kyriat Gat with a score of 2 to 1 after extra time. The players from southern Europe dominated their league last season. First with 74 points in 26 matches, they have accumulated 24 wins, 2 draws and 0 defeats. They therefore represent a formidable opponent and a real challenge for the Grenat. For their part, the task was just as difficult for the SFCCF in the semi-final, even if the Genevans avoided extra time thanks to Rimante Jonušaite’s sumptuous goal in the 92nd minute. As a reminder, the Lithuanian international had lodged the ball in the opposite top corner from the corner of the penalty area, with an anthology curling shot. This goal gave her team victory in a moment of intense emotion.
