At home, the Servette players were held to a draw against Lucerne.
It was a timid afternoon in the cold for our Grenat. Without Imane Saoud, a major absence from the match, the reigning champions struggled to find the key to overcome Lucerne.
After a relatively calm start, the Servette players forced the opening goal through Simonsson. On the right side, her cross was only deflected by the Lucerne goalkeeper into her own net. Despite creating several chances, they couldn’t extend their lead before halftime.
The opportunities kept coming in the second half, but without success. Worse, it was Lucerne who managed to equalize. On a counterattack, the unfortunate Daïna Bourma scored an own goal after a miscommunication with Korpela. Despite constant pressure and plenty of chances, the Servette players had to share the points for the first time this season.
Servette now shares the top of the league with FC Basel, who won 2-1 against Grasshopper earlier that afternoon. Next weekend, Servette will travel to Zurich to face FCZ in the 16th round clash of the AWSL.
