FC AARAU FRAUEN – SERVETTE FCCF: FINISHING ON A POSITIVE NOTE

After their elimination in the quarter-finals of the playoffs, Servette’s women will now play two classification matches against Aarau.

The painful and cruel elimination against Grasshopper is surely still fresh in everyone’s mind. After securing a historic double last season, the Servette women will end the 2024–2025 season without a single title and without qualification for European competition.

They will have to draw on their remaining energy to find the motivation to achieve two good results to close out the season. Regardless of the final result, these two matches will not erase the recent disappointments. Still, in an effort to end on a positive note, the Servette side will face Aarau—who knocked out Basel in the quarter-finals—in a home-and-away series.

How do you remotivate a team after such a difficult end to the season? How do you give meaning to two “meaningless” matches when there is no more competitive stake? It’s said that true champions are those who know how to get back up after a painful fall. And while these next two matches won’t erase the tough moments of recent weeks, they might lay the foundation for next season’s success.

Let’s approach these final matches with professionalism and pride. Let’s show that Servette FCCF belongs among Switzerland’s top teams and that every match is taken seriously, no matter what’s at stake.

The Garnets will travel to Aarau this Saturday, April 26, before hosting the Aargau side the following weekend for the final match of the season.
