SERVETTE FCCF – BSC YB FRAUEN 5-4 PEN (1-0)

Heroines! After a thrilling, emotion-packed encounter, Servette FCCF claimed victory in a penalty shootout against YB and advanced to the semi-finals of the Swiss Cup!

The battle was expected to be tough, and the path full of obstacles—and that’s exactly how this wild match played out. YB proved once again, as they had in their last meeting at Wankdorf, to be a formidable opponent. Well-organized and disciplined, the Bernese side caused plenty of problems for Servette. Still, the two-time Swiss Cup winners stayed composed and gradually turned the tide, creating their chances. Saoud delivered a perfect assist to Clémaron, who headed it home to reward a dominant Servette first half.

YB returned from the break with the same determination they’d shown at kickoff, and their mentality paid off. Iman Beney netted the equalizer just before the hour mark, pushing the game into extra time and then penalties. Neither team managed to break the deadlock before the decisive shootout.

Bottega the Heroine
Tension, fatigue, stress, emotion… The dreaded yet eagerly anticipated moment had arrived—for players and goalkeepers alike. And on this icy evening, it was Mickaëla Bottega who warmed the hearts of the 2,000 spectators. Saving the first and final penalties—securing qualification—she etched her name into club history with a legendary performance. Revelli, Korhonen, Lushimba, and Marchão all converted their spot kicks. Tufo missed hers, but no blame will fall on the player who just celebrated her 150th match in garnet—she’s already carved out a place in the club’s legacy.

What a night at the Stade de Genève! Servette moves on to the semi-finals and will face FC Basel in a massive showdown in Geneva. But first, Barcala’s squad will host Lucerne on Saturday, March 1st, after a weekend dedicated to international duty!
